General Praxis Information The Praxis Series: Professional Assessments for Beginning Teachers is a set of rigorous and carefully validated assessments that provides accurate, reliable information for use by state education agencies in making licensing decisions. Colleges and universities may also use the basic academic skills assessments to qualify individuals for entry into teacher education programs. The three categories of assessments in The Praxis Series correspond to the three milestones in teacher development:
Regular Registration Register for the Praxis through ETS (Educational Testing Service). Register Online:http://www.ets.org/praxis Register By Mail: Registration forms are available inside the current Praxis Bulletin. Forms cannot be downloaded. Bulletins are available at the Testing Services office, 1880 SW 6th, UCB Suite 310, M - F, 8am - 5pm. Enter on Hall or Harrison through the glass doors marked University Center Building, take the elevator to the third floor, and follow the signs to Suite 310. NOTES: PSU administers Praxis I and II paper-based tests. However, the Praxis I, or PPST section of the Praxis test is also offered Mon. - Sat. on computer at the Sylvan Learning Center's Thompson Prometric Testing Centers. In Portland call: 503-254-4159. Your admission ticket, sent to you by ETS, has information you will need for the test day, ie, where to report, what to bring/not to bring, etc. While Testing Services administers the Praxis, the exam is usually conducted at another location on campus. See your admission ticket for the testing location. Praxis "Stand-by" Registration Procedure There is no longer a "stand-by" option available for the Praxis. ETS has created an "Emergency" Registration beginning September 2007 test date. Test takers must register for this "Emergency" option up to the Friday one week prior to the test date. It is only available for registration online and the fee for this service will be $75. If you have any questions please contact ETS at 1-800-257-5123; however, you will not be able to register for this service over the phone only online.. Questions? Questions about: registration, score reporting, and test preparation should be directed to the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, New Jersey, at: 609-771-7395. Questions about which exams you need to take should be directed to the appropriate state organization OR the teacher education program to which you are applying.
