Think that you need to select a major in order to choose a college? Wrong.
That's a myth. However, if you'd like to find out what you can do with a
variety of majors, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington is helpful.
Click on a major and you'll find descriptions of the major's subfields, career
paths, related careers, titles of jobs found by graduates in the
field, and links to other web sites.
Financial Aid:
A comprehensive site, with useful calculators. Use the College Cost
Projector, the Savings Plan Designer, the Financial Aid
Estimation Calculator and the Loan Payment Calculator to arm
yourself with needed figures.
The Oregon State Scholarship Commission:
Lists more than 150 private awards and business scholarships and the
online application. Loan information and extensive loan

Future Unclear?:

is, the "Beyond High School" section provides valuable links to information
about the armed forces, volunteer and internship options,
apprenticeship opportunities and vocational schools.
Corporation for National Service:
Information about AmeriCorps, the Civilian Conservation Corps,
internships and job opportunities. Find out how you can earn scholarship
money for doing community service.
Student Athletes:
Information about eligibility for student athletes, including those with learning
disabilities and those who have been home schooled.
Our thanks to Julia Surtshin, and her article in the Living section of the Oregonian 7/5/99 for the above information. The web sites are still current as of 08/2008. She suggests that a students still consult with a college counselor, parents, and guide books, as on-line searches are often misleading and incomplete.
